POETRY
by Stephen Snipes

A Simple Explanation

There it is, Love—
that torrential rain
that we’ve
waited
our entire lives
for

--something
we can
entwine ourselves
around

Finding Poetry

I find myself too often like this,
wanting to know if you have ever stood beside a tree

to become in its becoming,
to become in its felling.

You know the reason for this: I can not sleep at night.
The moon struggles its way across the sky

and I can not sleep
and I can not sleep.
