WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS
We encourage you to submit fiction, interviews, essays, missives and any other type of writing - long or short - that bears the distinctive mark of a job well done. Reading periods are all over the place – please be patient, and feel free to query if you haven’t heard from us in regards to a submission.
The rules, then:
WEB SUBMISSIONS
1) These should be sent to websubmissions@theshoremag.com
2) Include the piece in the body of the email or attach as a word document. Your call. Formatting stands a better chance of getting to us correctly if you do the latter.
3) Please include a short bio.
PRINT SUBMISSIONS
1) These go to submissions@theshoremag.com
2) Mailing your submission is encouraged. Send to:

It’s really great if you include a self addressed stamped envelope. Americans! your SASEs are appreciated, but your stamps are not accepted by Canada Post.
3) You must (when emailing) attach your piece as a word document. You must include your name, address, phone number, and email address on this word document. Please do this. The floor of my room is littered with stapled printouts that have only things like “The House” or “River” at the top. And the phone number: it’s unlikely, but sometimes we really do have to call you. Like when it’s twelve hours before we go to press and we notice a previously overlooked mistake and we need to ask you how you want to fix it. And if we don’t have your number one of u s has to find it by doing a reverse address lookup which makes us look like creeps.
4) Include a bio.
5) Simultaneous submissions are fine – please let us know promptly if the piece is accepted somewhere else.
6) Previously published material will no longer be considered. This is new.
7) All rights to published work will remain with the author.
8) Right now we cannot afford to offer payment, although it is possible this could change in the future. Currently, contributors receive two copies of the magazine and a dumb gift.
POETRY
1) Poetry, weather for the print or online magazine, should be sent to poetry@theshoremag.com
